"If there be any thing amiss, therefore, in the present state of our affairs, as the formidable deficit lately unfolded to us indicates, I ascribe it to the inattention of Congress to their duties, to their unwise dissipation and waste of the public contributions. They seemed, some little while ago, to be at a loss for objects whereon to throw away the supposed fathomless funds of the treasury." -- Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), To Thomas Ritchie, December 25, 1820

Sometimes it looks like our Founding Fathers could see into the future as far as this very day, doesn't it?

IMPORTANT: Why haven't we heard more about this? In June Congressman Schumer (D-NY) sent a letter to the FDIC questioning the financial stability of the IndyMac Bank, AND THEN, turned around and gave that information to the media. That precipitated a run on IndyMac and resulted in its collapse. (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/12/business/12indymac.html?_r=1&ref=business) (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/money_co/2008/07/sen-charles-e-s.html). That also started the firestorm on the rest of the rest of the financial industry. Why would the Democrats purposely give that info to the media? How about because they were losing the propaganda war on global warming and the war in Iraq and their plan was to lay the blame for the financial problems on the Bush Administration. Being the historic dunce that Schumer is he probably had not the slightest idea of what he had started. Now comes an article that tries to lay the fault for all the financial mess on the BUSH Administration (See! Told you so!), (http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/12/21/business/21admin.php), BUT, this article completely ignores the fact that the sub-prime mortgage problems were created solely as a result of the CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) which was put into place by the Carter Administration and was expanded by the Clinton Administration. It also completely ignores the fact that 17 times in 2008 alone the Bush Administration tried to get corrective measures enacted and the Democrats said, "no," every time (and Reid and Barney Frank are still pushing and promoting the CRA) (http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/09/bush-called-for-reform-of-fannie-mae.html). Why are the liberals trying to shift the blame for all this to the Bush Admnistration? Most likely because we haven't yet seen the end of all this and we don't yet know how deep and widespread the mess really is, and about the shenanigans already going on with all the bailout money, all of which has happened as a result of what the Democrats did (and are still doing). http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1208/16787.html

Do you remember Dan's Bake Sale? Have a look about 2/3 of the way down the page if you don't. (http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:osCe0_spLZsJ:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rush_Limbaugh_Show+%22Dan%27s+bake+sale%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us) I bring this up because of the way the environmentalists are talking about the current extra cold conditions. They are saying it is because of man made global warming (what else?). What's the connection between the environmentalists and Dan's Bake Sale? Well, about the same point in time it was a big deal for the environmentalists to gather on the Mall in DC for an Earth Day celebration. Here's the point. Even though there had been 80,000 people at Dan's Bake sale, and the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, had made arrangement for the city sanitation department to clean up the bake sale site after the event, there was nothing for them to do. The attendees had cleaned up after themselves. After the Earth Day event in DC the same year it took the Park Service two days to clean up all the trash and garbage left behind by the "environmentalists." Now do you get it?

Liberals and their understanding of economics and the marketplace. Several years ago in an effort to raise more money the state government the state of New Jersey imposed a $1500 (I think it was) surcharge on "evil" gas guzzling pickup trucks. In the first month following the imposition of the surcharge there were only 2 pickup trucks sold in the whole state. People simply went to surrounding states (NY, PA, MD, DE) to buy their trucks. Even a liberal can understand numbers like those and a month later the surcharge was repealed. The lesson? Never assume that a liberal politician understands the future effects of what he is proposing.

Liberals will talk your arm off telling you how much more caring they are than are conservatives, BUT...., the facts say the opposite is true: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/21/opinion/21kristof.html?_r=2&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink

Obama plans huge public works spending projects to help the unemployed. There is only one thing wrong with that idea. THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO MONEY OF ITS OWN. The taxpayers must pay for all government spending...... AND...... because of of well known government inefficiencies taking money from the private sector to use in government programs will probably result in 2 private sector jobs lost, or never created, for every one in the public works area. Worse still is that private sector jobs tend to be self-supporting and self-sustaining where public sector "make work" jobs last only until the appropriations derived from tax money runs out. This idea is (absurd, asinine, birdbrained, boneheaded, brainless, foolish, idiotic, imbecilic, inane, insensate, lamebrained, ludicrous, mindless, moronic, puerile, sappy, vacuous, and/or witless - pick one or more): http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/dec/06/obama-vows-public-works-vast-scale/

Our Founding Fathers gave us a country based on the idea that we are born possessing "natural rights," that is, that government does not give us our rights, we already have them from the moment of our birth. The purpose of government isn't to provide our rights, but rather to protect the rights we already have. http://www.meridianmagazine.com/ideas/081031constitution.html

Are you unhappy with the way many things are going in the USA?  If you are then let your elected representatives hear from you.  Our nation is a "representative republic."  In other words a nation where our legislators are supposed to represent your wishes, but, if you don't let them hear from you how are they supposed to know what things concern you?  Generally liberals are more group oriented than are conservatives, and tend to be more activist in nature.

That's why things in our country have been becoming more and more liberal in nature, even though conservatives outnumber the liberals.  Remember, our nation only works as our founders designed it to work if the citizens participate in its operation.
