"Illustrious examples are displayed to our view, that we may imitate as well as admire. Before we can be distinguished by the same honors, we must be distinguished by the same virtues. What are those virtues? They are chiefly the same virtues, which we have already seen to be descriptive of the American character the love of liberty, and the love of law." -- James Wilson (1742-1798) -- Of the Study of Law in the United States, c. 1790

"How do you tell a Communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin." --Ronald Reagan (1987)

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money." - Margaret Thatcher

Commentary - Last night I was talking to an old friend who lives in Iowa.  He noted that there is discussion in Iowa about also getting the resolution on States Rights introduced and passed there.  There seems to be a movement gaining momentum all around the country to gain control over a Federal Government running wild.  This morning I learned that there are now nine states that have drafted the same or similar bills (see:  http://www.jonasclark.com/blog/breaking-news/nine-states-draft-bills-regarding-state-sovereignty/).  (See the following Google link for more info on this:  http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=A+RESOLUTION+affirming+States%E2%80%99+rights+based+on+Jeffersonian+principles+missouri+washington+new+hampshire&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=)

For still more info on this enter this phrase in the Google search window "A Resolution affirming States’ rights based on Jeffersonian principles"

Folks, if we can get most of our state legislatures to introduce and pass similar bills maybe we can get the US Congress to adhere to what our Constitution says.  This is likely to be the preeminent issue that conservatives have been looking for to unite behind and show a united front against the abuses of liberalism.  It's up to you.  Get busy and contact your state's representatives about getting this going in your state.

Tee Hee!  Last August Al Franken called a meeting to discuss veterans issues at Brigitte's Cafe in St. Cloud, MN.  The event was more successful that it should have been when only one person showed up to hear Franken speak:  http://boreamerica.com/archives/2008/08/al-franken-draws-crowd-of-one-person.html

Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) wants hearings on the Fairness Doctrine.  Never mind that her intervention on the issue amounts to a conflict of interest because her husband (Thomas Athans) is a current and former executive of the failed left wing radio networks Air America, and Democracy Radio.  Stabenow really shouldn't be doing anything that bring attention to her husband.  He isn't exactly a tower of virtue:

Are you unhappy with the way many things are going in the USA?  If you are then let your elected representatives hear from you.  Our nation is a "representative republic."  In other words a nation where our legislators are supposed to represent your wishes, but, if you don't let them hear from you how are they supposed to know what things concern you?  Generally liberals are more group oriented than are conservatives, and tend to be more activist in nature. That's why things in our country have been becoming more and more liberal in nature, even though conservatives outnumber the liberals.  Remember, our nation only works as our founders designed it to work if the citizens participate in its operation.
