"IF THIS BE SEDITION, MAKE THE MOST OF IT!" (with apologies to Patrick Henry)

“Oppression can only survive through silence.”

“A desire to resist oppression is implanted in the nature of man.”
~ Tacitus

“Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities (and the smallest minority on earth is the individual).”
~ Ayn Rand

“Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may.”
~ Sam Houston

“But there is only one thing which gathers people into seditious commotion, and that is oppression”
~  John Locke

“No oppression is so heavy or lasting as that which is inflicted by the perversion and exorbitance of legal authority.” ~ Joseph Addison
“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.” ~
Frederick Douglass

“All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible.” ~ Noah Webster

“False riches, consisting of money, houses and lands, acquired by selfish means at cost to others and thereafter used selfishly, are almost always used for the oppression of other persons.” ~ Joseph Franklin Rutherford

“He who allows oppression shares the crime.” ~ Desiderius Erasmus

“If you see oppression of the poor, and justice and righteousness trampled in a country, do not be astounded.”
~ King Solomon

“In a world without the law of God, you have chaos, oppression, tyranny, and everyone doing what is right in their own eyes.” ~ Randall Terry

“No oppression is so heavy or lasting as that which is inflicted by the perversion and exorbitance of legal authority.”
~ Joseph Addison

“Oppression is more easily endured than insult.” ~ Junius

“The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.”
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

“When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know, the end result is tyranny and oppression no matter how holy the motives.” ~ Robert A. Heinlein

“Without Liberty, Law loses its nature and its name, and becomes oppression. Without Law, Liberty also loses its nature and its name, and becomes licentiousness.”
~ James Q. Wilson

The Strongest Possible Message:
G T Baker

What is the strongest possible message that voters could send to politicians in the upcoming 2010 and 2012 elections?  What could voters say to the politicians that would unmistakably say to them, "enough.... no more.... NOT EVER!!!"

The answer to that question is to vote out ALL incumbents..... yes, ALL OF THEM.

We must do that because not only have the liberals and progressives proven that they do not care about the damage they have been doing to our republic but the supposed Republicans and conservatives have been playing along to get along instead of listening to the citizens and standing up for what is right.

Getting people to vote out their own representatives is going to be a hard sell but it is absolutely necessary if the objective is to send them the strongest possible message.  Anything less implies acceptance of the way things have been done in the past.  That must not happen.  ALL INCUMBENTS MUST GO. After all, could a Congress of all new members do any worse?

Before you decide whether or not this would be a reasonable course of action just ask yourself these questions.  Are our elected representatives supposed to represent the wishes of the voters?  Have they been doing that, or have they been acting as if the wishes and interests of the voters are irrelevant?

We, of course, are all to aware of the answers to those questions.  The question therefore becomes, what are you going to do about it?

It is time to stand up and say to the politicians, "enough.... no more.... NOT EVER!!!"

The Montreal Gazette
June 10, 1926

"There are a sort of highbrow type of self-centered educated persons who form a sort of exclusive aristocracy here, there, and almost everywhere.  What their education has done is to show them how little others know.  They constitute an uppish class that sometimes mistakes itself for an upper class, and is proud to be known as highbrow, and as a highbrow is a degeneraic intellectual aristocrat who is the product of an education that should have made him a liberal.

But it has not done so.  Rather it shows that much learning can be accompanied by bad training, and illustrates and old conclusion that the most learned are not necessarily the best learned.

Sir Robert Falconer
University of Toronto
“A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victim, and he wears their face and their garments and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. The traitor is the plague.” ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero, 106-43 BC

Could there be any more accurate description of today's Liberal Progressive Democrats?
"By gnawing through a dike, even a rat may drown a nation."  - Edmond Burke
"The free man will ask neither what his country can do for him nor what he can do for his country."  Milton Friedman
The people must also be self-assertive. They must have the spirit of the old Revolutionary War flag: "Don't tread on me!" They must be vigilant against those, at home or abroad, in or out of government, who might wish to trample on their rights. They must be courageous and manly, with a sense of honor, so that in hard times they will stand up and fight, and not slink away slavishly so as to avoid trouble and danger.
Thomas G. West and Douglas A. Jeffrey, The Rise & Decline of Constitutional Government in America
The most important moral of all is that excellence is where you find it. I would extend this generalization to cover not just higher education but all education from vocational high school to graduate school. We must learn to honor excellence, indeed to demand it in every socially accepted human activity, however humble that activity, and to scorn shoddiness, however exalted the activity. An excellent plumber is infinitely more admirable than an incompetent philosopher. The society which scorns excellence in plumbing because plumbing is a humble activity and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because philosophy is an exalted activity will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy. Neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water
. --- John William Gardner (1912 - )

Are you unhappy with the way many things are going in the USA?  If you are then let your elected representatives hear from you.  Our nation is a "representative republic."  In other words a nation where our legislators are supposed to represent your wishes, but, if you don't let them hear from you how are they supposed to know what things concern you?  Generally liberals are more group oriented than are conservatives, and tend to be more activist in nature. That's why things in our country have been becoming more and more liberal in nature, even though conservatives outnumber the liberals.  Remember, our nation only works as our founders designed it to work if the citizens participate in its operation.
