"IF THIS BE SEDITION, MAKE THE MOST OF IT!" (with apologies to Patrick Henry)

“Any appeasement of tyranny is treason to this republic and to the democratic ideal” ~ William Allen White
“I seem to smell the stench of appeasement in the air.”
~ Margaret Thatcher
“Admittedly, there is a risk in any course we follow other than this, but every lesson in history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement, and this is the specter our well-meaning liberal friends refuse to face.”
~ Ronald Reagan
“In this century, when evil men plot chemical, biological and nuclear terror, a policy of appeasement could bring destruction of a kind never before seen on this earth. Terrorists and terrorist states do not reveal these threats with fair notice in formal declarations. And responding to such enemies only after they have struck first is not self defense. It is suicide.
~ George Bush
“You may gain temporary appeasement by a policy of concession to violence, but you do not gain lasting peace that way.”
~ Anthony Eden
“The idea of reasoning with terrorists without force or with appeasement is naive, and I think it's dangerous.”
~ George Allen (Washington Redskins)
“For some reason, the system seems to cave in to the first signs of resistance, then it follows with policies of appeasement, and the reformers are abandoned. The national agenda was going to be a road map to reform in the country, but it suddenly disappeared off the radar screen. It is no longer part of the official discourse.”
~ Mustafa Hamarneh

"There are a sort of highbrow type of self-centered educated persons who form a sort of exclusive aristocracy here, there, and almost everywhere.  What their education has done is to show them how little others know.  They constitute an uppish class that sometimes mistakes itself for an upper class, and is proud to be known as highbrow, and as a highbrow is a degeneraic intellectual aristocrat who is the product of an education that should have made him a liberal.

But it has not done so.  Rather it shows that much learning can be accompanied by bad training, and illustrates and old conclusion that the most learned are not necessarily the best learned.

Sir Robert Falconer
University of Toronto
“A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victim, and he wears their face and their garments and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. The traitor is the plague.” ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero, 106-43 BC

Could there be any more accurate description of today's Liberal Progressive Democrats?
"By gnawing through a dike, even a rat may drown a nation."  - Edmond Burke
"The free man will ask neither what his country can do for him nor what he can do for his country."  Milton Friedman
The people must also be self-assertive. They must have the spirit of the old Revolutionary War flag: "Don't tread on me!" They must be vigilant against those, at home or abroad, in or out of government, who might wish to trample on their rights. They must be courageous and manly, with a sense of honor, so that in hard times they will stand up and fight, and not slink away slavishly so as to avoid trouble and danger.
Thomas G. West and Douglas A. Jeffrey, The Rise & Decline of Constitutional Government in America
The most important moral of all is that excellence is where you find it. I would extend this generalization to cover not just higher education but all education from vocational high school to graduate school. We must learn to honor excellence, indeed to demand it in every socially accepted human activity, however humble that activity, and to scorn shoddiness, however exalted the activity. An excellent plumber is infinitely more admirable than an incompetent philosopher. The society which scorns excellence in plumbing because plumbing is a humble activity and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because philosophy is an exalted activity will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy. Neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water
. --- John William Gardner (1912 - )
Our Founding Fathers were greatly influenced by a rather lengthly treatise on the subject of freedom, The Spirit of Laws, by Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu, published in 1748.  You can read it for yourself at:

This is a very popular book about how the USA became so prosperous and the beacon of freedom to the world.  You can read it online for free at:

You would think an effective community organizer would leave the communities where he worked a better place to live..... if he was any good at his job.... if his objective was really to help people and not just to continue things as usual.  Well, here is yet one more example of life in the neighborhoods where Barack Obama was a community organizer.  Unfortunately it is yet one more example of an increasing problem, not a decreasing one.  Nothing more need be said.  The record speaks for itself and indicts Obama as nothing else could:

How much do you and every member of your family owe on the national debt?

Seems like the Obama Administration doesn't agree with Lincoln.
Rather, they seem to have adopted the philosophy of:

Are you unhappy with the way many things are going in the USA?  If you are then let your elected representatives hear from you.  Our nation is a "representative republic."  In other words a nation where our legislators are supposed to represent your wishes, but, if you don't let them hear from you how are they supposed to know what things concern you?  Generally liberals are more group oriented than are conservatives, and tend to be more activist in nature. That's why things in our country have been becoming more and more liberal in nature, even though conservatives outnumber the liberals.  Remember, our nation only works as our founders designed it to work if the citizens participate in its operation.
